We're looking for a passionate and proactive FOGO Technical Specialist to join our Circular Economy and Resilience team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact by supporting innovative waste and resource recovery initiatives, including the delivery and continuous improvement of Council's Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) service.

About the Role

You’ll play a key role in supporting Council's waste and resource recovery programs while helping drive our circular economy objectives.

Working closely with internal teams, contractors, developers and the community, you'll contribute to projects and initiatives that improve waste management outcomes and encourage sustainable behaviours.

 

What you will be doing

In this diverse and rewarding role, you will:

  • Support the implementation and ongoing success of Council's FOGO service.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of resource recovery projects, strategies, policies and programs.
  • Coordinate organics-related procurement, including compostable liners and kitchen caddies.
  • Conduct audits and evaluate service performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Undertake site inspections relating to waste management, bin presentation and signage.
  • Work with residents, businesses and stakeholders to promote sustainable waste management practices.
  • Analyse data and trends to develop strategies that reduce contamination and improve resource recovery outcomes.
  • Liaise regularly with contractors and internal teams to support service delivery and performance.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service by responding to enquiries and requests within agreed service standards.
  • Represent Council at community events, workshops, meetings and festivals.

 

About You

You are an organised and customer-focused professional who enjoys solving problems, building relationships and contributing to meaningful environmental outcomes.

 

You'll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Waste Management, Sustainability, Business, Project Management or a related discipline, or demonstrated experience in a compliance, enforcement or similar role, ideally within the waste industry.
  • Current Class C Driver's Licence.

Your commencing annual salary will range from $87,680.34 - $109,600.43 + Superannuation dependent on your experience and qualifications.

 

Please note that, from time to time, you may be required to work on weekends to support community events and engagement activities. Further details will be discussed during the interview process.
